The Team
The Global Fixed Income Team is looking for an energetic, independent, and result-oriented Developer with extensive Capital Markets experience in trading applications to both contribute individually and lead a small team working on custom applications integrating into existing ION platform using vendor API. Candidate needs to be proficient with functional programming with Scala and Java (functional features of Java 8 or above), including Scala features like Akka, Monix, etc.
The Role
The successful candidate must have solid hands-on expertise in building complex real-time Capital Markets applications, possess advanced understanding of capital markets, flows, and products. Candidate must have experience interfacing with the business, will be expected to understand and formulate requirements, and co-ordinate with several business lines and other technology groups. Candidate will be expected to provide coaching, leadership, and mentoring for a small team of developers, as well as participate in hiring and performance reviews.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy custom components using vendor (ION) API in Scala and Java
- Interface with Capital Markets Front Office users (Traders and Sales) to gather requirements, demo new features, etc.
- Lead a small team of developers; coaching, mentoring, and providing guidance to team members
- Code review, knowledge sharing
- Communicate with technology to leverage effort and investment
- Continuously expand on team knowledge
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Capital Markets application development using functional programming in Scala/Java
- Previous experience with ION trading systems
- Knowledge of Capital Markets processes and products, with strong preference for Fixed Income
- Experience interfacing with Capital Markets Front Office users
- Experience with Messaging Bus technologies like ION, Solace, Kafka, etc.
- Experience coaching and mentoring team members
- Experience with FIX protocol and Quickfix/J
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be a team player.
- Must be familiar within Linux and Windows
- Computer Science degree or equivalent
