Job Summary
The Accountant I provides support to the manager of Revenue and Collections and is responsible for the MCP and physician emergency room claims submission, HST submissions, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, assistance in the preparation of month end and year-end audit files and performs other related duties as required.

Occasionally required to bend and stretch to retrieve and return files.
High level of concentration and precision required to prepare calculations, input data, audit records and review assessments while sitting and using a computer mouse.
Job Qualifications
Completion of an approved/recognized three year Business Management diploma with a concentration in Accounting is required.
Enrolment in the Certified Professional Account (CPA) Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) is an asset.
A minimum of three years' of accounting experience within the last five years in hospital or healthcare billing is required.
Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to meet strict timelines.
Ability to be self-motivated and work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (specifically Excel and Word).
Knowledge of Meditech Payroll Module and experience with Medical Services Systems is an asset.
An Excel score of 60% is required. A basic Excel test may be administered by the Department of Human Resources.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
