The Department of Computer Science invites applications for a part-time Academic Instructor to teach CSCI 255 (Advanced Data Structures) (4 credits) during the Winter term of the 2024-2025 academic year. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Position Description

CSCI 255 Advanced Data Structures This course provides a deep investigation of foundational data structures and algorithms. Criteria for selecting appropriate data structures and algorithms for a given problem are presented. General problem solving is emphasized throughout the course. Specific topics include stacks, queues, lists, trees, searching, sorting, traversals, recursion, graphs, hashing, and complexity analysis. Three credits and a two-hour lab.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science. The candidates must show a strong commitment to teaching.

About the Department

The Department of Computer Science offers undergraduate programs (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science). We support many undergraduates in summer research projects, funded by programs such as NSERC USRAs. We offer a research-based MSc program, and the research activity in Computer Science at StFX has received high rankings by Macleans' magazine. The Department has also recently launched a new course-based Master's of Applied Computer Science as well as a post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence to complement other undergraduate degrees. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth, direction and success of the new programs in the department.
