Director of Finance

Inclusion NB is leading the creation of opportunities for individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability and their families to live full and valued lives in all aspects of society and is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and enthusiastic individual committed to the vision, values, and philosophy of inclusion.

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the organization. This includes managing the budgeting process, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and monitoring cash flow to maintain financial stability. The Director ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for registered charities, such as receipting, remittances, and charity returns. Ensuring accounting guidelines are being followed, and oversee the annual audit. The director works closely with senior leadership to align financial strategies with the organization's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the organization's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals;
  • Oversee all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting;
  • Manage the organization's annual budgeting process, working with program and department heads to create accurate and realistic budgets;
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior leadership and the Board of Directors
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements;
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring adequate reserves and proper allocation of resources;
  • Work closely with fund development team to track grant budgets, ensure financial reporting compliance;
  • Ensure proper allocation and tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds according to donor and grantor specifications.
  • Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of transparency, accuracy, and accountability;
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them;
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • CPA or other relevant certification is considered a strong asset;
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, ideally in the non-profit sector;
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Intact, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to the Board of Directors, donors, and staff;
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
  • Experience with non-profit financial management, including budgeting, grant management, and compliance;
  • Current and Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Persons Sector Check;
  • Passionate about the mission and values of the organization;
  • High level of integrity, transparency, and accountability;
  • Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to work across departments;
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff.
