Number of Positions: 2

Job Purpose: Safe and effective operation of remote vehicle and associated systems in the pursuit of project objectives and deliverables on board the nominated vessel. Ensuring that all aspects of the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) operation they are asked to carry out are in accordance with the ROV Operations Manual and the Business Management System (BMS). Assist with the offshore training and development of ROV Pilot Technician Grade 4 and 3 personnel.

Reporting lines and interactions:

Hierarchically reports to: Training and Resources Manager

Operationally reports to: ROV Superintendent, ROV System Supervisor, ROV Supervisor or Senior Pilot Technician leading shift

Job Scope (budget, management, specific criteria):

General

  • To assist with ROV operations as instructed and in accordance with approved procedures and TechnipFMC Quality Health Safety and Environment (QHS&E) policy and objectives
  • To complete, as requested, daily documentation and produce accurate detailed reports as well as project deliverables
  • To perform remote vehicle and systems maintenance in compliance with TechnipFMC schedules
  • Assist with system stock control
  • To assist with the procurement of parts/materials
  • To perform corrective and equipment breakdown reporting and system stock control
  • Good housekeeping in and around ROV work area
  • To carry out tasks deemed within candidate's capability/competency as requested by Company Management or Superintendent / Supervisor / Snr Pilot Tech
  • Launch and recovery of ROV system

Documentation

  • All relevant documentation in relation to the project, vehicle maintenance schedules and personal TechnipFMC Competency portfolio of evidence must be kept up to date as required

Self -Development:

  • Review the Company's safety notices and business management system on each occasion of joining the vessel
  • Attend training courses and seminars as required by the Company

Qualifications (professional, technical, academic):

Essential:

  • A nationally recognised Technician qualification in a relevant technical subject (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic). Minimum Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent
  • Shall possess valid Offshore Survival and Medical certification
  • Valid DCBC Certification

Preferred:

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) in relevant engineering subject (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic / Hydraulic)
  • High Voltage Safety Awareness training certification
  • Basic Hydraulics training certification
  • Manual Handling certification
  • Working at Height certification

Typical background and experience required:

Essential:

Grade 2:

  • Minimum of 2 years offshore experience operating / maintaining ROV's and associated launch systems
  • Awareness of legislation/guidance e.g. reporting accidents, near miss reports
  • Awareness of Company safety management system
  • Demonstrates good safety and housekeeping practices
  • Channel ROV system technical queries to the shift Supervisor
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures
  • Work as part of a team and assists others
  • Demonstrates good communications between colleagues/Client/office
  • Capable of assisting with planned maintenance system
  • Capable of assisting crew to locate fault
  • Capable of operating ROV to worksite in most conditions
  • Minimum 200 hours piloting time with 18 months relevant offshore experience
  • Capable of performing general manipulator duties with 5 and 7 finger manipulators
  • Capable of performing task under supervision
  • Capable of performing task without direct supervision
  • Ability to coordinate dive records, video, audio and written logs
  • Looks for improvements, regularly makes suggestions, occasionally offers new ideas, methods or concepts
  • Generally efficient and productive
  • Capable of interpreting and using navigation aids
  • Experience of working with Forum Energy XLX WROV and Saab Seaeye Tiger Observation ROV's.
  • Experience of operating ROV's on Diving Support Vessels in parallel with Diving operations.

Grade 1:

  • As above
  • Has completed and had validated TechnipFMC Competency for Pilot Technician Grade 2 and 1
  • Has completed sufficient days offshore and logged appropriate flying hours to be considered for promotion from Pilot Technician Grade 2 to Pilot Technician Grade 1
  • Completion of TechnipFMC Competency for Pilot Technician Grade 2 and 1
  • Good understanding of the companies BMS system
