OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Senior Security Consultant (Full time or Contract) with a strong background in conducting tabletop exercises and developing incident response plans. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in cybersecurity strategies, incident management, and stakeholder collaboration, enabling organizations to proactively prepare for and respond to security incidents.

WHAT YOU LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

  • Incident Response Planning: Design, develop, and implement comprehensive incident response plans tailored to organizational needs.
  • Tabletop Exercises: Facilitate realistic and engaging tabletop exercises to test the effectiveness of incident response strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Threat Assessment: Analyze organizational vulnerabilities, threats, and risks to recommend actionable security measures.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with technical teams, leadership, and external partners to ensure alignment on security objectives and protocols.
  • Policy Development: Assist in creating or updating security policies, procedures, and playbooks to align with industry standards and best practices.
  • Post-Incident Analysis: Conduct reviews and debriefs following security incidents or exercises to identify lessons learned and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all security plans and exercises meet regulatory requirements and industry standards

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:

  • Bachelor s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 8 years in cybersecurity roles, with at least 3 years focusing on incident response planning and tabletop exercises.
  • Proven track record of managing or facilitating complex incident response activities and scenarios.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Familiarity with threat intelligence tools and incident response platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience working collaboratively across departments
  • Successful track record of recommendations at CIO, CEO and Board or senior management level
  • Desired Certifications: CISM, CGEIT, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CBCP, CEH, PCIP, ISO27001, CCNA, MCSE, etc., or equivalents
  • Experience with security standards such as ISO27001 and PCI-DSS
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as HIPAA, HiTrust, NIST, CIS, Cloud Security Alliance, etc.
  • Experience with Business Continuity or Disaster Recovery Plans desired.
  • Consulting experience a plus .
