Position Overview:
The Electro-Mechanical Technologist will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for creating and managing electrical and mechanical designs. The position will develop and execute detailed design plans which include technical designs, supplier liaison, design schedules and investment costs for projects of small to large capital investments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
- Develop electrical and mechanical designs that support the current and future technical needs of Inland's equipment such as distillation systems and ADF concentrators;
- Develop moderately complex designs such as distillation skids, PLC control cabinets, and electrical routing layouts;
- Translate component specifications into designs for fabrication or purchase. For example, electrical cabinets, and instrumentation;
- Develop supporting documentation for Inland processes and equipment, including but not limited to Bills of Materials, drawings and associated design documentation;
- Provide technical support of the manufacturing and assembly of electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical and other related components and sub-systems;
Required Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology; or other post secondary education coupled with relevant experience;
- Mastery in the use of CAD programs;
- 5+ years of relevant Engineering Technology experience or equivalent relating to the design of electrical and mechanical industrial equipment with strong experience related to the electrical portion of the systems;
- Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel;
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor;
- Proficient understanding of mechanical, electrical and electronic/computer systems, including PLC's;
- Excellence in troubleshooting and thrives on problem solving;
- Proven ability to plan and execute;

- Ability to work independently to achieve project goals before deadline;

Work Environment:
- The Electro-Mechanical Technologist will have a mixture of office and hands on duties. While much of the job will be performed in an office environment there will be occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and vibration). The noise level in the work environment can be excessive at times. There may be times when the Electro-Mechanical Technologist will be required to work outside of their normal work schedule, so that we may meet the needs of our customers and/or operational requirements.
Physical Demands:
- It is expected that the employee be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;
- Position involves sitting and standing for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;
- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 20 pounds occasionally;
- Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;
- Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently to comprehend instructions;
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
