As a key member of the Data Networking team, the Network Administrator III will be the technical lead responsible for designing, supporting, and overseeing the provisioning of Metro Ethernet, Fiber Optic Internet and IPSec based Business Data Services. A technical problem solver and planner the Network Administrator III will assist with the development of standard and customized services and procedures. The successful candidate will also assist with the implementation and maintenance of network monitoring and management tools which enable performance monitoring and support the Network Operations Center.

This role would be involved in troubleshooting issues, overseeing active projects as well as planning for the evolution of the Eastlink Core network (Peers, Transits, Caches, route propagation, DDoS). This role would be expected to Mentor and/or managed the other team members in this position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing, planning the evolution of the Core Internet Network
  • Executing on project assignments.
  • Troubleshooting assigned issues.
  • Training and Administrative (Beauceron, Dayforce, Research etc.).
  • Work with the Director of Core Networks to assist with the development of the overall network infrastructure.
  • Changes to IP routing in multiple networks proficient with BGP, MPLS mBGP, OSPF and SR.
  • Analyzing / implementing robust security.
  • Ensure proper monitoring is performed throughout the network, report trending and highlight areas of concern.
  • Provide technical advice to other individuals in the organization pertaining to business network design and operations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master of Internetworking, Network focused College Diploma or CCIE equivalent industry certification.
  • Advanced Network Certifications or equivalent (CCIE/JNCIE), training in programming (python) focus on APIs.
  • Experience working in an ISP, Internet routing and support role.
  • Experience with structured cabling, wireless networking, and regular expressions an asset.
  • IPv4/IPv6 routing via BGP, OSPFv2, OSPFv3 in large networks
  • BGP traffic engineering
  • BGP Community Strings/local-pref/MED
  • Working with RADB/ARIN/RIPE, transfers, RPKI etc.
  • Competence administering Linux based systems.
  • Coordinating Peering in major IX’s
  • Managing RPKI/IRRPT Server
  • Arbor/NetScout products, DDoS detection and mitigation
  • Familiarity with various 10/100/400Gbps optics and platforms
  • Familiarity with IOS-XR and JunOS
  • Familiarity with Network Automation/Ansible.
  • Scripting skills (Python).
