The Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia (CPA Nova Scotia) is the regulatory body for Chartered Professional Accountants in Nova Scotia. We are seeking a Communications Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills who thrives in a collaborative environment and excels at engaging with diverse audiences.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and working out of our downtown Halifax office (2 in-office days required), the Communications Coordinator will provide executional support and content creation, ensuring the organization's communications align with its strategic goals.

Position Details

Type: One Year Term - Part-time - 0.6 FTE (3 days per week)

Location: Downtown Halifax (minimum 2 days in-office)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing communication strategies and maintaining consistent external messaging
  • Develop and distribute communication materials such as newsletters, email templates, and event promotions
  • Manage social media content, scheduling, and audience engagement
  • Update and maintain website content, ensuring accuracy and functionality
  • Provide logistical and communication support for key initiatives and events
  • Monitor and analyze communication performance metrics, providing insights for strategy improvement
  • Respond to member inquiries and provide timely communication support
  • Design visual graphics and promotional materials in line with brand standards
  • Other communication and operational support as required

Experience And Education Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in a related field such as communications, public relations, or equivalent experience
  • The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in a similar communications role
  • Experience using graphic design software such as Canva, or similar tools, to create visually appealing materials and promotional content
  • Familiarity with backend website management tools and platforms for updating and maintaining web content
  • Proven problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, accurately and quickly
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
