The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our T3 Mine Maintenance team in Thompson, Manitoba.

This is a permanent full-time position working on a rotation schedule (5/4 schedule days and nights).

As a maintenance supervisor you will be responsible to continuously improve the work team performance through effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives. Members of this team will work at the T3 Mine to ensure the mobile fleet is effectively contributing to the production profile which includes development of long-term and short-term maintenance initiatives, practices and procedures.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Ensure Zero Harm to employees, the business, the environment and the community.
  • Hold crew accountable for area safety behavior, housekeeping, teamwork and professionalism.
  • Supervise and coordinate the "maintenance work" components of the Asset Management Framework
  • Carry out tasks while on shift to assist in achieving the overall area targets for your area of accountability.
  • Work within budget, guidelines and standards and execute safety and maintenance plans as established.
  • Work collaterally and cross functionally, with colleagues, engineering, production and services teams to achieve the objectives of the Maintenance Department
  • Participate in planning and scheduling management routines.
  • Improve reliability, maintenance and processing methods to reduce cost an avoid loss of production because of equipment malfunction or failure time.
  • Lead a unionized workforce and manage a crew according to our Vale policies and procedures, and respective collective agreement as well as Identify necessary training for employees to meet the requirements of the area.
  • Required to work surface and underground locations.
  • Review the work order status daily:
  • To plan/schedule newly approved, urgent or emergency work:
    • Track upcoming work.
    • Identify and raise all critical issues that threaten the successful planning/scheduling of work orders for completion.
    • Raise to appropriate authority if planning/scheduling tasks by the required end date results in a requirement for additional downtime and or resources.
    • Manage and adjust resources capacities within SAP to reflect actual resource availability.

About You

Education:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal certification is required, however Heavy Duty Mechanic certification is considered an asset.
  • Completion of a supervisor training program is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in an industrial setting.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, influence and collaborate with others to build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Software skills in MS Office products.
