Demands, duties, qualifications
This position will report directly to the Director of Quality- Central, Western and Labrador-Grenfell Zones and will provide leadership in the development and implementation of safety initiatives and risk management using quality improvement methodology. The incumbent will work closely with other members of the Quality team and will function with a high degree of independence and accountability. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting people-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements. Travel throughout the region and flexible work hours will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- To support the ongoing development and implementation of the Quality Framework.
- To review, analyze, trend and report identified risk and patient safety issues using data from the Clinical Safety Reporting System (CSRS).
- To provide expertise related to adverse events management and the disclosure of unanticipated medical outcomes.
- To lead and/or provide support for quality reviews utilizing incident analysis tools and frameworks.
- To facilitate and/or support process improvement teams and quality improvement initiatives arising from occurrence trending and quality review recommendations.
- To lead and/or support the development and implementation of relevant policies related to Quality and patient safety programming.
- To foster a just culture throughout the organization.
- To provide support and guidance to managers when investigating patient safety incidents to mitigate future risk and improve patient safety.
- To work collaboratively with the Quality, Risk Management and Accreditation team.
- Other duties as it relates to the implementation and sustainability of the Quality and Learning System Framework.

Job Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor's Degree in a health related discipline required.
A Master's Degree preferred.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) in a clinical setting is required.
Previous experience in adverse event management and quality improvement would be an asset.

Knowledge of quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
