Leo Hayes High School is a high school of approximately 1800 students from grades 9 to 12 in the City of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The Vice-Principal will support the Principal in fulfilling the duties of Principal as per section 28 of the NB Education Act. The Vice-Principal will also support promoting optimum learning for all students through instructional leadership, positive and orderly school climate, monitoring student progress, strategic planning and effective communication with all stakeholders. In accordance with Article 47 of the Agreement Between Treasury Board and The New Brunswick Teachers' Federation, only teachers who have or have had a continuing contract with a School District in the Province of New Brunswick and who meet the required qualifications are eligible for appointment to positions of responsibility, except when no applications from teachers with such qualifications have been received. The basic criteria for appointment to positions of responsibility shall be educational qualifications, competence, efficiency and suitability. In assessing candidates for a position of responsibility, the Employer shall give consideration to each of these criteria; when the educational qualifications, competence, efficiency and suitability are relatively equal, preference for the position shall be given to the candidate who has a continuing contract.

NOTE: A teaching assignment may be a requirement of this position.
Essential Qualifications:
â?¢ have or have had a continuing (B) contract in New Brunswick
â?¢ valid New Brunswick Principalâ??s Certificate or valid New Brunswick Interim Principalâ??s Certificate
â?¢ valid New Brunswick Teacherâ??s Certificate, preferably Certificate VI
â?¢ minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience in the public school system
â?¢ written and spoken competence in English
â?¢ familiarity and competency with curriculum and programs for the respective grade level(s)
â?¢ familiarity and competency in school facility management and communications

â?¢ expert knowledge of practices of the respective grade levels
â?¢ demonstrated practice of applying assessment to instruction
â?¢ belief in and practice of teaming
â?¢ strong interpersonal relationship skills
â?¢ collaborative, inclusive decision-making skills

â?¢ competence in managing human and fiscal resources
â?¢ effective discipline strategies
â?¢ ability to work positively and proactively with the change process
â?¢ superior problem-solving ability

Salary: In accordance with the Agreement Between Treasury Board and The New Brunswick Teachers' Federation with responsibility allowance based on large school size.
