Position Overview:
Telecommunications and entertainment service networks are vast in technologies and require a structured operations team to maintain service availability. The core networks support model includes the Network Operations Center, dedicated data, internet, telephony, change management and access support groups. Together they carry the mandate of supporting existing and evolving networks and services. The Network Access Internetworking Specialist is the primary technician role supporting all aspects of network deployment, pre/post and in service testing. By providing hands on hardware support, the role is integral to the implementation and real-time support of Eastlink’s network and customer services.
Position includes reasonable on call and off normal support expectations.
Responsibilities:
Network Operations Support
- Network and customer level support for Eastlink business services.
- Maintaining network availability and service level objectives
Implementation
- Support defined network implementation activities initiated by platform and customer solutions engineering.
- Supporting all the technician level aspects of network planning, product development, testing and service delivery objectives.
Network Maintenance
- Telephony networks- hardware, software, connectivity, and management access support.
- Data, High Speed Internet, and Video networks - Hardware, connectivity, and management access support.
- Maintaining network operations, capacity management, hardware, and software compliance standards.
Network Sparing
- Maintain critical customer and network spares inventories.
- Maintaining network and customer service availability objectives
Materials Handling
- Maintain appropriate inventories of patch cords, connectors, cabling, and tools etc.
- Manage consumables inventory to support the day-to-day group deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary training in Networking or comparable experience-based knowledge.
- Minimum one year experience in related fields
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain WAN/LAN networks.
- Cisco Certifications (CCNA/DA/NP/DP) would be an asset.
- Familiarity with PBX service delivery
- Computer knowledge in relation to network connectivity
- Experience with: Structured Cabling; Fiber Optic Installation; DC Power Systems; Hybrid Fiber Coax systems and/or Data Center Operations would be an asset.
- Experience with Telephony and SIP deployment would be an asset.
