As WorkplaceNL's Team Lead Claims Services, you will work as a critical team member in our Claims Services Department. The Team Lead is a leadership position responsible for coaching, mentoring, directing and monitoring the Client Services (CS) teams and, in particular, caseloads and overall team performance. This role is critical in ensuring that the team excels in the provision of quality customer service.Depending upon the area in which you will be assigned, the Client Services team may consist of various positions such as Case Managers, Extended Services Adjudicators, Intake Adjudicators, Return to Work Facilitators, Client Services Assistants and Health Care Benefits Assistants. The Team Lead, depending upon the assigned area may be required to perform a quality assurance function with regard to reviewing the work completed by the various CS team members to ensure high quality and completeness. The incumbent is an expert on all pertinent legislation, policy, procedures, processes and systems related to claims management and will provide guidance to the CS team.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring and direction to members of the CS team.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and consultation to the CS team both individually and in the team setting.
  • Reviews all claims management plans to ensure high quality and completeness.
  • Identifies, promotes and monitors best practices in claims management
  • Works collaboratively with individuals to develop plans to improve performance.
  • Responsible for the achievement of team's Key Performance Indicators.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • University Degree, preferably in Health Care, Social Sciences or related area, in addition to a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a worker's compensation, insurance and benefits setting.
  • Well-developed organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with strong decision-making abilities, good judgement, well demonstrated knowledge of the Workplace, Health, Safety and Compensation legislation, policies and procedures, programs and services, medical terminology and medical modalities, and must understand the health care delivery system in the province.
