The Director, Retail Credit Transformation will significantly contribute to the success of a large-scale transformation program across Retail Credit Risk Canada to strengthen risk management, governance, and controls, enhance operational efficiency, and support Global Risk Management's (GRM) strategic priorities.

The incumbent will support the Head, Retail Credit Transformation, occasionally acting as a designate, in developing and implementing strategies, and supporting cross-functional initiatives. This includes work directly related to the GRM Transformation Program, and the incumbent is accountable for the delivery of the Transformation Initiatives for Retail Credit Risk in accordance with the Transformation Management Office (TMO).

All responsibilities will include ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • In partnership with the Retail Credit Risk Canada SVP and VPs, and the GRM Transformation Management Office, support Retail Credit Risk Leadership in fulfilling the strategic goals of the Transformation Program.
  • Specifically,
    • Act as a trusted partner to the Head, Retail Credit Transformation and RCR Leadership Team, to help define and review priorities, ensuring they are set up to achieve them.
    • Mandate supports the execution of outcomes from the external independent review (to strengthen 2nd line oversight), and the GRM Transformation Program.
    • Partner with appropriate stakeholders within RCR to identify opportunities and provide thought leadership to drive efficiencies and consolidate disparate processes, in partnership with the GRM Transformation Office.
    • Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes.
    • Facilitate coordination between RCR stakeholders to bridge silos and enable alignment across teams throughout all stages of development and execution; this includes identifying strategic communication opportunities.
    • Be accountable for defining the requirements/plans, and identifying SMEs for each Transformation Initiative for RCR, ensuring appropriate reviews and approvals are in place, and with support from the SVP, accountable for the execution / completion of the specific projects within.
    • Be accountable for project planning and execution activities (e.g. manages working group committees) for each Transformation Initiative for RCR, providing sign off on business requirements and preparing submission of validation packages for QA and Internal Audit, etc.
    • Be accountable for communication of project plans, project status, etc. (including SteerCo materials) for each Transformation Initiative for RCE and adheres to Transformation Office governance practices with support from Transformation Office PM
  • Ensure timely engagement with relevant groups (e.g., within GRM, Finance, HR, Executive Support), as determined by implications of the change being introduced by transformation initiatives.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Business degree required; Masters degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of banking and industry experience at a senior management level, ideally within risk management functions
  • Demonstrable success in coordinating large-scale transformation initiatives, and managing complex projects, involving geographically and functionally diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to translate vision and strategic priorities into operational and financial realities.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to drive decision-making and process improvements.
  • The ability to promote innovative ideas and accept the risks that are required to lead change.
  • Strategic influencing and negotiating skills to effectively persuade and influence peers and senior management.
  • The ability to foster and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships and attract and retain high performing talent
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to succinctly convey information to senior management
