Job Summary

NL Health Services Urban Zone is inviting applications for a General Pediatrician to join the Child Health Program, Division of General Pediatrics, Janeway Children's Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. John's, NL.

The successful candidates will provide outpatient and inpatient care to children in the Child Health program. Inpatient care will be provided on the Pediatric medicine inpatient CTU as attending pediatrician hospitalists. They will provide inpatient care for children and adolescents hospitalized with variety of acute and complex medical conditions.

Outpatient care duties will involve general pediatric clinics,complex care clinics and medical day care coverage shared with the Pediatric. division

Expertise and interest in hospital pediatric medicine, including care of patients with medical complexity, assisted ventilation, high flow and technology, are assets for this role, as well as interest in mental health and social complexity.

The role would include 10-12 weeks per year as attending pediatrician for inpatient service, with additional hospital pediatrics duties assigned at the discretion of the division. The incumbent will assume an equitable share of the inpatient and outpatient demands of the Division. On call requirements are with the general pediatric on-call rota.

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the incumbent would be responsible for the provision of clinical care and teaching of medical learners related to inpatient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Paediatrics (or equivalent)
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NL.
  • Satisfy credentialing requirements of Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Remuneration: Salary and benefits for this position are to be paid in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador. Starting salary will be based on years of clinical experience.
