Manager, Human Resources Business Partner

In this leadership position, you will report to the Senior Manager, People Services and will work closely with the Hydro senior leadership team and supervisors to promote a people first approach that fosters working together to identify solutions and exchange guidance, balancing human resources principles/policies with practicality of business requirements.
You will be responsible for leading a team of HR Business Partners who will execute Hydro's Strategic Corporate plan to support managers, supervisors, union shop stewards and employees on key people priorities. You will lead this team by providing excellent client service to support organizational needs and build strong effective relationships with managers and employees companywide. You and your team of professionals will provide expert guidance, consultation, and support in all areas of human resources and are the primary client contact group for all areas of the business (or the first point of contact for people related matters). You will work closely with other members of the People and Culture team, in particular the Employee Relations team, to identify solutions and support the organization's values and operational needs. In this role, you will be expected to regularly visit and spend time in our operational areas throughout the province and develop and foster relationships based on mutual respect. You are able to work collaboratively with others and are able to communicate in an effective and respectful manner, including on sometimes unpopular decisions or perspectives.
You excel in balancing the need for timely responses with ensuring equitable and fair human resources practices are implemented. You are able to apply a pragmatic business approach, are comfortable with not achieving perfection in every solution and are willing to challenge the status quo. You understand the need to move expediently in an environment that has many competing demands while ensuring the safety and health of our people are placed at the forefront. You are able to effectively prioritize the most critical needs while ensuring your internal customers feel valued and heard. You bring a calm and steady presence to the workplace. You are curious in your interactions with others, with an aim to understand not only what is said, but also what is not said.
Qualifications:
You have a degree in business or related discipline, with a minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, labour relations, people services or a related field. Experience in an electrical utility environment is preferred and considered an asset. You have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal, collaboration, and conflict management and negotiation skills. You are committed to providing excellent client service. In your previous roles, you have demonstrated effective problem solving, strong business acumen, innovative thinking, and an ability to prioritize operational matters while applying efficient and effective approaches in providing HR/LR services. You have extensive experience working in a unionized operational workforce. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and JDE or similar application is an asset for this position. Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered. This position may be eligible for hybrid work arrangements subject to management approval.
