The Security Office at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Patrol Officer.

Classification: Full-time, Rotating Shifts IUOE Position (80 hours biweekly)
Salary: $18.80 per hour

Responsabilités

Reporting to the Manager of Security, Patrol Officers safe-guards people, University buildings and property, and works to ensure a safe environment on the University campus in accordance with established regulations and procedures. Patrol Officers play an active role in ensuring adherence to University regulations and procedures, as they apply to themselves and all persons on the campus. They are required to do extensive foot and vehicle patrols, security escorts, and be able to pass all background checks. Patrol Officers deal with emergency situations as they arise and investigate all incidents on campus. The reporting structures and supporting documentation are primarily electronic and therefore a strong working knowledge of Microsoft products is required.

Qualifications

The ideal candidates will have a Community College Diploma in a related area, with a minimum of one (1) year experience in security. An equivalent combination of education and work experience would be considered. Applicants must be able to qualify as a Special Constable within the Province of Nova Scotia, and possess a valid Nova Scotia driver's license. Advanced First Aid and/or the ability to maintain this standard and to perform in emergency situations is required. Security at Mount Saint Vincent University is a 24/7 operation with a rotational schedule, including days, evenings and night shifts.

Applicants should have well-developed inter-personal skills, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision. The nature of the position requires good physical conditioning. Applicants should be sensitive to the environment of Mount Saint Vincent University, a university dedicated to the higher education and development of women. Mount Saint Vincent University is a smoking-restricted campus. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
