Job Summary
The Dosimetrist is responsible for performing highly specialized and clinical work as a member of the radiation oncology team in the development of treatment plans for oncology patients undergoing radiation therapy treatment. The Dosimetrist uses computer software to produce the optimum treatment plan for external beam and brachytherapy patients. Dosimetrists are also involved in performing quality assurance checks, attending rounds, and providing support, teaching and technical advice to non-certified Dosimetrist, Therapists and students. Performs other related duties as required.

Occasional standing and walking and lifting of materials from 10-25 lbs.
Repetitive work requiring alertness is required when making contours which require repetitive movements with the mouse.
Higher than normal levels of attentiveness or alertness is required in radiation planning and calculations for dosage level.
Exact results and precision are required when calculating radiation dose plans and when computer contouring critical structures for patient treatment.
Constant fine finger/precision work using computer and mouse and in mould room making shields.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized/approved Dosimetry Program or successful completion of a recognized Radiation Therapy Technology Training Program with a minimum of two years of experience in Radiation Therapy is required.
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
Demonstrated strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
*The successful applicant will be required to successfully complete the Medical Dosimetrist Certification process within three years of eligibility to write the exam.
