Demands, duties, qualifications Job Summary
The Nursing Education Coordinator II - Regional Clinical Informatics Specialist reports to the Primary Health Care Manager - Peninsulas and is part of a team supporting the advancement of a Primary Health Care (PHC) philosophy and participates in facilitation of inter-professional team development, inter-sectoral collaboration, change management processes and community capacity building. The position works closely with the PHC team supporting the NL Health Services Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System in keeping with the organization's Electronic Health Record plan. The Clinical Informatics Specialist will contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of the EMR for NL Health Services. This position will work in consultation with clinical programs in further developing the EMR, maintaining dictionaries, testing software, educating and supporting staff during and after all EMR implementations, updates and changes.

The main accountabilities will include extensive regional consultation throughout NL Health Services in all practice environments (Acute Care, Community and Long Term Care); participation in the EMR implementation projects; participation in the development, implementation and evaluation of NL Health Services electronic health record objective, strategies and policies; coordination of dictionary upgrades; promotion, facilitation and maintenance of linkages with HTDM, Health Information Services and Informatics (HISI) and Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI); provide on-site support for clinical areas during the initial GO LIVE periods; develop, implement and evaluate training strategies for staff using the EMR; participate in other EMR projects as they arise; and all other related duties as required.

The position is also required to support the PHC team by providing support and active participation to local PHC leadership teams and Community Advisory Committees on an as needed basis.

Job Demands

Occasionally lifts/moves educational materials and supplies up to 25 lbs. Requires constant sitting to demonstrate equipment handling and to document information. Occasional walking or standing may also be required.
Regularly performs fine finger/precision work with machines that require accurate control and steadiness.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an approved/recognized Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
Current practicing license with the ARNNL is required.
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven working in a clinical practice area with extensive knowledge of clinical documentation standards and professional practice standards is required.
Experience in facilitating adult learning and teaching principles is required, preferably with a focus on the operation of computerized information.
Experience in obtaining consensus through facilitating diverse groups.
Proven proficiency in various computer programs including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Meditech, and Electronic Medical Records is required.
Demonstrated competency in organizational, leadership, team building and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently is essential.
Evidence of active involvement with continuous educational activities.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
