Please note that this facility is open 7 days per week so the schedule will be dependent on the business operation.
Here's where you'll be focusing:
As a Procurement Manager reporting directly to the Director of Procurement, you will manage the development and maintenance of a programs for your assigned categories, and work closely with the Category Management and Merchandising teams to ensure that your product offering is brought to life in our stores effectively. This role will allow you to develop your skills in project management, as you manage new products from ideation through to creation and then launch within our business. You will also maintain and develop our current product offerings, working with our extensive vendor base to ensure we have the best quality, assortment, mix, and price for the markets we serve. What you'll get to do in this role:
• Communicate product briefs to Category Management and Merchandising and Provide assistance to support, develop and resolve issues with products in your category. Liaise regularly with these teams and other resources to achieve business objectives.
• Manage product life cycle stages (new de-listing/re-sizing/re-sourcing etc.)
• Assist in the identification of new item opportunities, and work closely with Product Development Managers to bring these new products to life.
• Support quality watch/conformity programs, as identified by Technical Director
• Maintain integrity of database files as a primary data manager
• Negotiate National vendor agreements/programs and monitor performance; effectively negotiate product costs
• Manage vendor selection, performance, and compliance based on Sobeys policies and procedures
Responsibilities
- Schedule production, order ingredients, packaging, and supplies.
- Maintain superior customer service levels with both internal and external customers.
- Collaborate with Backstage procurement teams and other Central Kitchen Buyer Planners
- Production planning and inventory management, working closely with Module Managers.
- Ability to coach and lead work teams to achieve performance, quality, and service goals.
- Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.
- Identify and analyze areas for cost reduction or margin improvement.
- Ensure adherence to Sobeys policies, procedures, and practices.
- Strive for continuous improvement.
- Drive the management of supplier compliance with Sobeys Inc policies & procedures.
- Administrative duties related to production, shipping, and quality performance.
- Drive efficiencies to leverage total spend and optimize costs.
- Drive the continuous effort of sourcing out new business partners to lower overall Sobeys Inc costs.
- Develop and manage systems and processes to support activities following appropriate protocol for Central Kitchens products and ingredients.
What you have to offer:
- 4-year business degree or related field.
- 8+ years' progressively responsible experience in Procurement.
- Experience in Manufacturing, Distribution, Culinary or Retail is an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility.
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, purchasing, and cost analysis.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and production planning software.
- Resourcefulness and critical thinking skills.
- Critical thinking, analytical and detail oriented, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Software.
- Understanding of manufacturing regulations regarding safety, quality, HACCP, GFSI, Federal Regulations and GMP's.
- Ability to analyze cost performance data to improve operations and reduce costs.
- Must be comfortable at giving and receiving open feedback.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
