Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Basic Food Safety certificate an asset
- Previous kitchen or service experience required
- Previous experience working with elders in a health-care setting is an asset
- Regular attendance and punctuality are required
- WHMIS Certification
- Must be able to attend in-service programs while on duty
- Must be able to work a rotating schedule
- Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs
- Successful completion of Food Handlers Course within the past five years
- Knowledge of the following:
- Risk Management Procedures
- Environmental Hazard Awareness
- Proper Body Mechanics
- Crisis Intervention Methods
- Fall Prevention Methods
- WHMIS
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Maintains and checks diet/serving kardex sheets
- Prepares selected food items for residents and staff as directed while ensuring standards of portion control
- Prepares dining room for residents' meals
- Serves meals in an attractive and courteous manner in the dining area
- Sets up trays and hot cart, ensuring they are in accordance with tray cards, kardex files and diet lists
- Takes trays and hot carts to the dining areas
- Properly stores all non-perishable groceries upon delivery as directed
- Collects and washes soiled dishes from table in the dining room, tray and hot carts; Scrapes dishes and stacks in the dishwashing areas
- Ensures all garbage is disposed of in appropriate manner
- Places and washes dishes in the dishwasher; stores clean dishes and utensils in proper area
- Cleans kitchen, dining areas and related dietary areas of responsibilities on the cleaning schedules as directed
- Maintains a high degree of safety and sanitation in all work areas and in all procedures
- Attends a Food Handlers course as offered, minimum of once every five years.
- Performs a variety of cleaning duties including the washing of dishes, equipment counters, floors, etc.
- Reports any equipment requiring maintenance and all safety hazards immediately upon discovery
- Assists the cook in food preparation and deliver food items and equipment required for catering to special functions as per request forms.
- Assists in the training of students and new staff as directed
- Performs other duties as required
Hours: 72 Hours Biweekly ( 8 hour shifts)
Start Date: December 2024
Salary: As per Shoreham Scale
