Training Assistant

Location: Hydro Place, St. John's
We are looking for a positive, detail-oriented individual who has a high degree of self-initiative to join our growing Training and Development team! Reporting to the Team Lead, Employee Development, you will be responsible for performing a broad range of administrative duties in support of the Training & Development function, including the corporate training program, the Developmental Performance Review Program, and employee development activities. As a new administrative role to the team, there is opportunity to bring organization assistance and process efficiency to training and development activities across Hydro's geographically disperse system. You will provide administrative support to the Team Lead, Employee Development and Training & Development team. Specific duties include but are not limited to: supporting the training budget processes, including tracking, coding and reviewing and verifying invoices; supporting training work flows for certificate documentation and data entry into the Learning Management System; scheduling training sessions and logistical coordination with training vendors; creating requisitions and organizing procurement processes; creating, coordinating and/or preparing reports using Microsoft Excel and JD Edwards; coordinating internal working group sessions and meetings, including documenting minutes as well as managing various calendars. All other duties as assigned.
As a Training Assistant, it is essential that you have excellent oral and written communication skills, a high degree of initiative and attention to detail, as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills. You have working knowledge of current and efficient office practices and procedures, knowledge and experience in Human Resources, Training or Safety operations would be an asset. The successful candidate may be dealing with a high level of sensitive information therefore maintaining confidentiality is essential. The Assistant must be able to work in a fast paced environment and balance competing priorities and tasks. You possess a Certificate or Diploma in office administration or executive assistant and have a minimum of five (5) years recent and relevant executive assistant or office assistant experience. You must be highly proficient in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with HRIS databases and Learning Management Systems is an asset. A combination of comparable education and experience may be considered.
