Executive Office - Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador

Position Title: Grant Writer, Full Time, Permanent Position.

Location: Corner Brook, NL.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Rate of Pay: $46,750. To $63, 250. /Per annum.

Job Description: Qalipu First Nation is seeking a full-time Grant Writer. The Grant Writer will be responsible for leading departmental staff in developing proposals for special projects and initiatives and assist in pursuing new project funding opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies for all departments within Qalipu First Nation.

Work with staff from various departments to determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal, attending strategy meetings, participating in relevant staff meetings, and developing a strong understanding of the organization's work, programs, priorities, history, mission, and results.

Maintain an up-to-date database of prospects and submission deadlines.

Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information and share information with the development team. Coordinate requirements with various program staff and contribute proposal status information.

Ensure reporting to funders is completed on time for each program.
Draft, revise, and produce high-quality proposals and reports for multiple stakeholders by using templates and following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone.

Assemble information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.

Present proposal in creative or required formats. Obtain approval by reviewing proposals with key stakeholders, including various program and executive-level staff within the organization.
Draft content related to grant partners for general external communications such as newsletter articles, blog posts, and social media content.

Assists with database management; is capable of pulling reports to meet various funder queries.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor s Degree preferred in Communications, Journalism, Business, Media, Non-Profit
Management, or related field.
Experience:

Minimum of 5 years experience in grant writing, prospect research, general fundraising or comparable and transferable skills acquired in a professional setting

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to engage in strategic planning and process improvement

Strong entrepreneurial attitude including drive for results and proven ability to stay focused on goals; ability to prioritize competing priorities and meet deadlines

Strong organizational skills, ability to follow processes and attention to detail

Strong written communication and presentation skills

Strong computer and Internet proficiency, including but not limited to Microsoft Office,
Google G-Suite, social media tools, graphic design (i.e. InDesign or comparable platforms) and database applications

Experience working in a fast paced, quick turnaround environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with external partners

High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information

Working Conditions:

This position is an office-based position with duties predominantly met during regular business hours. Travel and flexibility of work schedule is required. Some travel and overnight stays may be required from time to time
