Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., which employs 3,600 people and operates three tire manufacturing facilities in Nova Scotia, is seeking an Instrumentation Project Leader to join its team in Granton, Nova Scotia.

The Opportunity

The Instrumentation Project Leader is responsible for ensuring that the instrumentation and control systems operate efficiently and safely, complying with regulatory standards and supporting the manufacturing process.

What you'll do:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the proper functioning of measuring and control devices that are critical to the manufacturing process, as well as support the site in the development of strategic plans as it relates to all measurement systems.

Job responsibilities include:

• installing and calibrating: setting up new instrumentation systems and configuring them to the required specifications;

• maintenance: performing routine checks and maintenance on existing systems to prevent mechanical failure;

• calibration: ensuring instruments are calibrated correctly to maintain accuracy and reliability in data gathering and process control;

• troubleshooting: diagnosing issues and making immediate repairs to minimize downtime;

• system updates: updating system software and hardware to maintain technological compliance and efficiency;

• documentation: keeping detailed service reports and process documentation to adhere to compliance and operational standards;

• collaboration: working with engineers and other technicians to improve system performance; and,

• technical support: providing training and support to other technical staff and team members regarding system operation and troubleshooting complexities.

Requirements for this position include:

  • technical diploma in Instrumentation Technology or equivalent;
  • minimum of 2 years of experience working with industrial scales; and,
  • demonstrated ability to manage and lead strategic projects.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate the following:

  • solid written and verbal communication skills;
  • well-organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision;
  • demonstrated solid teamwork, interpersonal, leadership and planning skills; and,
  • ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality in dealings with outside contractors and equipment suppliers.
