Asset Specialist - Work Execution

Location: Bay d'Espoir

In this position you will be responsible to execute and support maintenance program for NLH Generation assets. You will plan, coordinate and direct a variety of activities necessary for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of generation fleet, including dams and spillway structures. Ensures that all work activities of the Operations and Work Execution adhere to corporate safety policies & procedures, government regulations and industry best practices. Responsible for a focus and development of the organization's safety culture by helping with the development of safety initiatives and campaigns to ensure engagement of employees at all levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide field coordination with Work Execution, Operations, Engineering Services, TRO and other work groups as required. This position is the primary contact for coordination of these work groups on the generation sites.
  • Coordinates with the Supervisor - Support Services for work at the remote camps.
  • Working with the Specialist - Safety, Health, & Environment, implement safety initiatives and campaigns to aid in the engagement of safe work and best practices for responsible departments.
  • Mentor the Front Line Supervisors and provide relief, under extenuating circumstances, when required.
  • Assists short term planning personnel in building annual maintenance plan and schedules for project work and the maintenance backlog, using priority and equipment service availability constraints.
  • Ensure work packages are assembled and ready for the work execution group when required. To coordinate the assembly of a logistics plan when the complexity of the job warrants.
  • Working with the Manager- LTAPTS investigates equipment problems, communicates details to the appropriate personnel, identifies trends and assists LTAPTS to finalize replacement or upgrade recommendations.
  • Ensure maintenance activities consider public safety concerns and that adequate control measures are implemented as per guidance from the Dam Safety group or Safety, Health and Environment.
  • Participates in other duties as required, performing any delegated function including assuming the role of acting Manager - Operations & Work Execution.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a recognized university with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Technology, or an equivalent level of technical education combined with demonstrated technical knowledge and experience. For engineers registration with PEGNL is mandatory.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience preferably in the utility business.
  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) certification or similar would be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience within a multidisciplinary team environment;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of personnel;
  • Must possess and maintain an appropriate valid driver's license;
  • Periodic travel will be required.
