Job Summary
This position ensures a focus of service excellence, continuous quality improvement, innovation, data integrity, and workflow integration. The candidate will have a through understanding of how information is used in the health care system, experience in strategies to support the uptake of information and the ability to lead and support strategic planning in a large complex organization. The incumbent will require strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Understanding the role of informatics in enhancing patient/client/resident safety is important. The position manages staff at one or more sites and will be responsible for all related management functions including budget management, performance evaluations, recruitment and labor relations, work assignments, orientation, committee involvement, attending and chairing meetings, and operational data reports. Onsite presence in the Eastern Zone will be required.
Job Qualifications
Education
A Baccalaureate degree in Health Informatics/Health Information Management, Business Administration or a health-related degree from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution is required.
Experience
Minimum of five years' experience within the last seven in health information management or managing heath information is required.
Experience in project/change management initiatives, and in the use of electronic health information systems including Meditch, EMR, CRMS.
Progressive leadership experience is required.

Current and continuing certification as an accredited Health Information Management Professional from the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
Eligibility for membership in the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Information Management Association (NLHIMA) would be an asset.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
Participating in a management on-call rotation is required.
Ability to travel and possession of a valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License.
