Department Overview:

This position is part of the TD Insurance Finance team. TDI Finance drives value by providing financial support across all of TD Insurance to ensure that key drivers of the business are quantified and well understood, the right business decisions are made among competing options, and that capital is being deployed as efficiently as possible. This is a dynamic department that will play critical role in the ongoing success of TD Insurance.

Job Description / Accountabilities:

This position reports directly to the Senior Manager Finance, GI Business Support and will accomplish a variety of tasks mostly related to month end cycles, planning, forecasting, management reporting and performance measurement of expenses for TD Insurance. This role requires a broad financial and business perspective, demonstrated problem solving skills and excellent relationship management.

Key Activities

  • Preparation of monthly management reports, variance analysis and metrics summary, with emphasis on report adaptation, automation and documentation based on changing needs and priorities.
  • Participate in developing / implementing new financial models, methodologies, and frameworks to enhance ongoing reporting, audit and analysis for the business on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Extract critical pieces of information and understand key business drivers in order to prepare presentations which communicate the financial results and key messages to business leaders.
  • Preparation of quarterly forecast, annual plan and medium-term outlook in collaboration with business partners.
  • Work closely with internal business partners in Product, Sales & Pricing, Affinity Market and Underwriting to provide insights on business drivers.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis on a wide variety of issues that arise in the General Insurance business.
  • Participate in business initiatives to evaluate and recommend solutions to financial and operational issues.
  • Work closely with all finance groups to ensure accuracy of financial information.
  • Continuously improve processes and documentation while ensuring compliance to internal policies and best practices.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience
  • A CPA designation (an asset) with 5-7 years of experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Proactive with the ability to see opportunities warranting further review & analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to present to senior management level audience comfortably.
  • Advanced Excel and Power point skills. Experience with Macros, VBA and Microsoft Access would be an asset but not a requirement.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to negotiate, problem solve, make trade-offs and decisions with various groups and demonstrate strong relationship management.
  • Candidate needs to be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where every day is different!
