We are currently seeking the services of a Family Practice Physician at the Churchill Falls Community Clinic in Churchill Falls, NL.

This recruitment effort is jointly shared between Labrador-Grenfell Zone and Churchill Falls (Labrador) Corporation.

This General Practice/Family Physician located at the Community Clinic in Churchill Falls and reporting to Labrador-Grenfell Zone with NLHS, will be part of a team that includes two full time regional nurses, two part-time public and mental health nurses, and support staff. The clinic is equipped with holding bed facilities and basic trauma/resuscitation equipment, and is provided with cardiac monitoring and defibrillation capabilities. There is also a requirement for Occupational Medical responsibilities, where applicable, within the scope of practice of the successful applicant and as outlined in additional duties.

Qualifications:

  • To be considered, candidates must be eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador; the criteria for licensure are outlined on the CPSNL website ( https://cpsnl.ca/ )
  • Additionally, the successful candidate must satisfy credentialing requirements of Labrador-Grenfell Zone.
  • Earned Medical Degree
  • Work experience is an asset
  • A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority
  • Occupational Medicine experience and interest is considered an asset.
  • Current in CPR, ACLS and NRP.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)

  • Your primary duties are to provide full scope of practice which includes prenatal care, emergency medicine and family medicine at the facility.
  • Regular primary care clinics at the Churchill Falls Community Clinic from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (75 hours biweekly), including prenatal clinics.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person- and family-centered care. Patient and Worker safety at the Churchill Falls Community Clinic is a priority; as such, the successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to partner with all team members by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
  • Coverage of on call commitments, including weekends and holidays.
  • Participating in staff development.
  • Abiding by the bylaws of Labrador-Grenfell Zone, the policies of the organization, the rules and regulations of the medical staff and the Canadian Medical Association Code of Ethics
  • Providing advice to regional nurses and other health care providers working with Labrador-Grenfell Zone.
  • Acting as a resource to the community and its working groups in the planning and development of health related programs
  • Providing occupational health services to employees of Churchill Falls (Labrador) Corporation which may include, but are not limited to:
    • Performing employee pre-placement and periodic medical examinations referred by the Corporate Occupational Health Nurse.
    • Completing Return to Work assessments for non-occupational illnesses/injuries.
    • Occupational injury management (treatment and early and safe return to work).
    • Performing independent medical examinations as per Transport Canada guidelines.
    • Adhering to Medical Travel Policy and other related Human Resource Policies.
    • Consulting and working cooperatively with Corporate Occupational Health personnel and external medical services provider on matters pertaining to health and safety as requested.

Salary & Incentives:

Physician Signing Bonus $150,000 with $25,000 top up
Physician Recruitment Incentive Pilot - $300,000 ($150,000 per year)
Come Home Incentive - $100,000 (if eligibility criteria are met)

  • Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • The General Practice/Family Physician annual salary ranges from $198,724-$215,097
  • Annual paid vacation, statutory holidays, sick leave and family leave.
  • Annual paid miscellaneous and study leave.
  • Annual retention bonus (category 0).
  • Access to Group Insurance Benefits, some of which are cost shared with the employer. These include: Canada Pension Plan, MD Management Investment Services, Life Insurance (including spouse), Health Insurance (Drugs, Travel and Supplementary), Optional Dental Insurance, Optional Long Term Disability, Optional Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Optional Critical Care Insurance, Optional participation in Canada Savings Bonds, through payroll deduction.
