NL Health Services has Family/Emergency Medicine locum opportunities available at Placentia Health Centre, Placentia, NL.

Community

Placentia Health Centre is a 24-hour emergency, Category B facility. Located along the south west coast of the Avalon Peninsula, Placentia is approximately 130 km from Newfoundland and Labrador's capital city, St. John's (roughly an 80 minute drive). The most direct route from the Trans Canada Highway (TCH). If you are travelling from the ferry terminal at Argentia, Placentia is mere minutes away, along Route 100.

Job Summary

Successful applicants are accountable for the provision of comprehensive health care services. The services include: family medicine clinics and Category B emergency room coverage, including emergency care and patient transfer. Physicians are expected to provide an equal distribution of call responsibility in the local Category B emergency room and Longterm care inpatient duties, and general practice clinics.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Degree

Remuneration

Remuneration is in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The locum daily rate is $825 per day for every 24-hour period worked and prorated for less. On top of the locum daily rate, a physician is eligible to bill the Category B incentive rates recently set out by government.

There is a daily meal allowance of $52.44 per day for each day worked (up to 14 days). If travelling in a personal vehicle, a mileage rate determined by the provincial government is paid. A vehicle rental can be approved upon request and the gas receipts will be reimbursed (no mileage will be paid). If traveling to the province, the most economical airline flights will be approved, along with the rental of a mid-size car. Gas receipts will be reimbursed. A hotel room can be provided upon arrival in NL, if required.

Locums not working full time elsewhere in NL can be reimbursed for some CPSNL and CMPA related costs.

Family Friendly hospital accommodations is provided upon request.
