Demands, duties, qualifications Duties: Located at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, this position will promote quality evidence-based nursing practice through education and professional development of Internationally Educated Nurses. Reporting to the Director of Professional Practice and Employee Development in consultation with Nurse Managers for Medicine and Surgery, the individual in this position is responsible for the clinical onboarding and orientation of IEN's on the medical and surgical units. The incumbent will mentor IENs with client assessments using Electronic Documentation Systems particularly for assessment and monitoring of acute and chronic disease management e.g., assessment, investigation, follow-up, and evaluation. The incumbent develops, implements, and revises orientation and professional development programs for IENs based on identified learning needs, practice outcomes, education program effectiveness and best practices to ensure effective integration in the clinical environment. The incumbent will provide visible clinical and professional leadership, acting as a role model for staff to support the integration strategy for IENs.

Qualifications: A Bachelor of Nursing Degree and current Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador are required. Courses related to adult or vocational education is an asset, and knowledge of adult learning principles is required. Knowledge of program development and evaluation is also required.

Five years acute care medical and or surgical experience is required. Clinical proficiency with nursing skills and currency in BLS is required. Demonstrated strong collaboration and problem-solving skills are required. Experience in facilitating adult learning is an asset.

This position requires demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications, teaching, and presentation skills. Successful candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to mentor, educate, coach, and motivate staff in an individual or team setting. Candidates must be self-directed and able to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment. Research skills and the ability to incorporate research and evidence-based practice are required. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning. Proficient computer skills are required. The successful candidate must be willing to travel within the region as required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
