Job Summary
This position works within the Nurse Practitioner's (NP) scope of practice in the following category of practice: Adult or Family/All Ages within the Eating Disorders Continuum. This is an advance practice role providing professional, analytical and an autonomous comprehensive range of health services to clients and patients including but not limited to health assessments and diagnosis of diseases, disorders, and conditions. Also facilitates or co-facilitates wellness and education groups with clients.
The Nurse Practitioner for Eating Disorders provides comprehensive health care to individuals within the HOPE intensive out-patient program, Eating Disorder Inpatient Unit, and Eating Disorder Transition. The incumbent works as part of an interdisciplinary team with the services and in partnership with other NL Health Service professionals.
This is an advanced nursing position that involves the planning and provision of both generalized and advanced nursing services. The NP will provide comprehensive care to clients and patients using principles of primary health care within a health promotion, population health and self-help framework. In the provision of comprehensive health care services, the NP collaborates with an interdisciplinary heath care team, including community/hospital physicians and psychiatrists.

Constantly moves, lifts, or operates equipment/machinery up to 10 lbs. and regularly is required to lift/move equipment, books, and supplies.
Occasionally, may have to reposition a patient over 50 lbs.
Physical effort also includes regular sitting to conduct patient histories, performing work on the computer and when assessing patients, regularly stands or walks.
When performing procedures, regularly uses fine finger/precision work and hand tools (i.e. medical instruments, computer mouse, stethoscope, dopplers, etc.) requiring accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required when performing physical assessment and procedures, completing charts/reports, observing patients, reading equipment/monitors, and completing work-related correspondence on the computer.
Job Qualifications
Completion of an approved/recognized Nurse Practitioner program is required.
Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of NL and Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Nurse Practitioner Adult or Family/All Ages with the CRNNL.
A minimum of five years' clinical experience within the last seven in mental health and/or addictions is required.
Current BLS Certification is required.
Possess strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management and teamwork.
Demonstrated progressive clinical leadership skills.
Demonstrated strong communication, problem solving, decision-making, and teaching skills.
Ability to function autonomously in an advanced practice role.
Ability to support and participate in research to improve practice and client outcomes.
Demonstrated skills in computer and database management.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required
