Job Summary
The Centre for Nursing Studies (CNS) has challenging faculty opportunities for dynamic, self-directed, highly motivated nurse educators who would like to be part of the nursing programs being offered at the CNS. Programs include a four-year BScN (Collaborative) Program, offered in partnership with MUN Faculty of Nursing and Western Regional School of Nursing; a LPN Bridging option; a five (5) semester Practical Nursing Program; Re-entry Programs for RNs and LPNs; an IEN Bridging program, other international nursing initiatives, and Post-Basic Courses/Programs for RNs and LPNs. The CNS offers opportunities for faculty practice, research, and international projects.

Applications are invited for the permanent, full-time position of Nurse Educator (NS-33). The successful applicant will teach theory, clinical, and lab/simulation courses in Mental Health in any CNS program. The successful applicant will be assigned to develop and deliver simulated learning experiences related to mental health and lead mental health clinical courses. Clinical teaching responsibilities will be in mental health practice settings. The successful applicant may be assigned teaching responsibilities in any program offered at the CNS.

This position involves the planning, implementation, and evaluation of theory, clinical, and lab/simulation courses in any program offered at the CNS, scholarly activity, participation on program committees, and contribution to professional activities.

Job Demands

Occasionally, there is lifting, or physical strength required, less than 10 lbs.
Auditory concentration is required in classroom setting to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.
Regularly sits to perform computer related duties requiring fine finger/precision (i.e., research, policy, and course development), while standing and walking are required to perform nursing education work in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Occasionally, work requires awkward or cramped body positions as well as strength and endurance.

Job Qualifications
Completion of a Bachelor of Nursing Degree, supplemented by a Master's Degree in Nursing is required.
Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
A minimum of three years current teaching experience in entry-level and/or formal post-basic nursing education programs with teaching assignments which included theory, clinical and lab/simulation, as well as practicing experience in mental health nursing practice areas is required.
Have a working knowledge of simulation pedagogy and engagement in simulation-based experiences.
Demonstrated teaching experience including curriculum development, delivery and evaluation and demonstrated clinical expertise.
Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to students.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by presentations, facilitations and report writing.
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
Proven leadership skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
