Demands, duties, qualifications The Cardiac Sonographer performs Cardiac Ultrasound procedures within the Provincial Cardiovascular Program. Duties include operating digital echo equipment in performance of 2 and 3 D/M Mode Color Doppler, as well as Pulsed and CW Doppler for inpatients and outpatients, either in the department or via portable equipment. The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for selecting relevant echocardiographic data, making quantitative calculations, and communicating impressions to the Cardiologist. In addition, the Cardiac Sonographer assists the Cardiologist in performing Trans Esophageal echos, contrast echos and stress echos, as well as documenting, recording, copying and archiving patient and echocardiographic data. Other related duties as required.

Occasionally pushes and pulls objects or transports patients over 50 lbs in wheelchairs or stretchers.
Regularly stands, walks, or sits for extended periods to perform activities. A very high level of alertness and attentiveness is required when performing scans/procedures due to patients' condition, safety and also because some scans/procedures are captured in real time.
Job Qualifications
Current clinical training/instruction in echocardiography (as a subspecialty of Diagnostic Ultrasound) and/or completion of a program in Cardiac Sonography from a recognized institution is required.
Current registration and member in good standing with Sonography Canada as a Canadian Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CRCS).
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
