Job Description:

Department Overview

Model Risk Management (MRM) group is responsible for establishing and implementing enterprise model governance, risk and control strategies and policies. We oversee and ensure compliance with MRM requirements ensuring that the bank has an effective risk management program within its risk appetite. Job Description Summary

Can you provide support on risk analysis, reporting, monitoring, and business partner requests? If so, then apply for the position of Group Risk Analyst I. In this role, you will act as a specialist in providing advice, oversight, and commentary on risk related matters. In addition, you will manage operational processes including:

  • Manage and perform data analysis of the model inventory's key fields to ensure that the information in the model inventory is complete and accurate
  • Identify and resolve data gaps within the model inventory, working with business partners across the enterprise
  • Triage new models for registration into the Model Inventory and process decommission requests of existing models

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

CUSTOMER

  • Analyze potential risks and ensure risks are aggregated / escalated to appropriate areas;
  • Support ongoing risk measurement activities by acquiring, analyzing and reporting business operational or relevant loss data;
  • Provide regular risk analysis and reporting on operational loss performance of the business;
  • Support business with analysis and reporting on risk issues and their impact which may include scenario analysis;
  • Support established enterprise-wide risk escalation, review and approval processes, data management, policies and risk assessment processes;
  • May also monitor/report on compliance, management, and strategic initiatives

SHAREHOLDER

  • Contribute to various operational activities and processes as assigned
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate
  • Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area
  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary
  • Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development / delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience
  • Conduct reporting and / or meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices
  • Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exists
  • Acquire and apply expertise in the discipline, provide guidance, assistance and direction to others
  • Identify, recommend and effectively execute standard practices applicable to the discipline
  • Adhere to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
  • May lead work streams by acting as a project lead / subject matter expert for small scale projects / initiatives in accordance with project management methodologies

BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Professional role with a focus on providing functional specialized business services, advisory or process / program support for own area of specialty, within defined parameters
  • Requires sound conceptual knowledge in their own field of specialty
  • Typically no supervisory accountability but may provide informal guidance to others
  • May lead small projects and / or support work streams of a bigger project
  • Investigates and analyzes potential solutions; ensures processes and functional programs are implemented
  • Executes on work with some complexity; generally requiring short to medium-term focus (weekly-monthly)
  • Accountable for own work and effective coordination of processes and information across related teams
  • Delivers on assigned initiatives / projects /programs with some direction from management
  • Generally reports to Senior / Manager role

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or
  • 1+ years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Financial Industry/Risk Management
  • Relational database SQL skills for data mining, extraction, and statistical analysis would be an asset
  • Experience using Business Intelligence Reporting tools such as Cognos or Tableau would be an asset
