WEC Bus Route 95
Temporary until January 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension
AM Run: Pick-ups begin at approximately 6:50am with service to Sutherland Brook Rd, Canton, 3rd Tier, Ennishone, 1st Tier, and Drummond Station Roads, and the subdivision around Reservoir Road, Grand Falls. Students are dropped off at John Caldwell School at approximately 8:05am.
PM Run: Bus leaves John Caldwell School at 3:00pm, with drop offs in the subdivision around Reservoir Road, Ennishone, Drummond Station, 1st Tier, 3rd Tier, Sutherland Brook and Canton Roads. Drop-offs are complete by approximately 4:10pm.
DEFINITION
This is skilled work in the operation of a vehicle to transport school children to and from school and other school-related activities. Employees of this class are responsible for the safety of their passengers and for the safe operation of their assigned vehicle in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations, the Education Act and Regulations and any other applicable departmental policies or rules. Work includes maintaining a clean and operationally safe vehicle. Work is performed with relative independence in accordance with established bus routes for the safe conveyance of students to and from school and for school-related activities as assigned by the supervisor. Performance is reviewed by a designated superior through discussions, observations, inspections, reports, and overall results achieved for conformance with established standards. N.B. Other related responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school, or GED, and considerable experience in the operation of a motor vehicle; possess good communication skills and demonstrated ability to successfully deal with discipline in the vehicle; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, supplemented by an employer-approved training program.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Driver's License with the appropriate endorsement(s) as issued under the Motor Vehicle Act; completion of the initial driver training program and subsequent annual refresher courses; and meet all other requirements as specified under the relevant Regulations under the Education Act and the Motor Vehicle Act as amended from time to time; and completion of other training sessions required by the employer.
REQUIREMENTS: Drivers must hold a valid Class 2 Driver's license with B and E endorsements as issued by the Department of Transportation and meet all requirements specified under the relevant regulation under the Education Act as amended by time to time.
NOTE: The route descriptions are subject to change, based on administration and route adjustment; administration reserves the right to designate the overnight parking of the school bus. Those hired after September 1994 (hourly paid employees) should note that should he/she exercise seniority and claim this position he/she will maintain hourly paid status based on the requirements of the run.
It is noted that the timeframe identified above does not constitute a guarantee. The term of your assignment may be shortened or extended depending upon circumstances. Staffing for this position will comply with the terms of the collective agreement. Should a breach in process be brought to our attention following the appointment, it will be reviewed in conjunction with the union. If it is found that the original appointment made was in breach of the collective agreement, the employer shall rescind the employment offer.
