Position Overview:

The Asset Management Specialist (AMS) is responsible to the Lead Asset Manager for the achievement of asset management tasks for assigned CP140 aircraft Electrical Systems and their components. The AMS is also responsible for: the provision of technical information including analysis, monitoring performance, and maintenance requirements including recommendations for improvements to optimize life-cycle costs and aircraft unavailability for the assigned systems.

What You Will Do:
  • Technical Duties shall include but not limited to the following:
  • Respond to enquiries from CP140 operating Base (Field Service Representatives (FSR) and Engineering Project Office (EPO) and the CP140 Weapon System Manager's personnel.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of CP140 Canadian Forces Technical Orders (CFTOs).
  • Prepare, submit and monitor the completion of change documents (in accordance with Department of National Defense (DND) AF9000 quality processes) associated with equipment modifications or technical changes to CP140 components as assigned.
  • As required, prepare and review modification proposals, special inspections, work packages, information leaflets and Statements of Work.
  • Ensure recommendations impacting airworthiness and flight safety are coordinated with both DND and the IMP Senior Design Engineer as appropriate.
  • Monitor the Canadian Forces Supply System (CFSS) High Priority Requests (HPR) in conjunction with the IMP OWSS Supply Management Team and take appropriate action to prevent or minimize reoccurrence in both the short and long term.
  • Examine and coordinate the optimization of component Life Cycle Costing (LCC) based upon customer requirements and reports from the Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) Engineering and IMP OWSS Supply Chain Management (SCM) teams.
  • Manage the implementation of LSA and Engineering report recommendations to rectify obsolescence, maintainability or reliability issues associated with CP140 assigned components.
  • Interact with other aircraft fleet Life Cycle Material Managers (LCMMs), Supply Managers and Equipment Managers to ensure the requirements of the CP140 are achieved.
  • Maintain aircraft system databases as required.
  • Prepare and/or assist with the preparation of briefings and reports to DND at NDHQ and IMP Management as required;
  • Prepare for and attend the CP140/P-3 International Operators Support Conference (IOSC) as required.
  • Participate in training and personnel development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in electrical engineering or significant aircraft maintenance experience, preferably in a leadership role, with demonstrated ability in aircraft fleet maintenance management, project management, business management and/or logistics management, and;
  • 5-10 years of aerospace technical experience with aircraft broad systems exposure, ideally with the P-3/CP-140.
  • Formal training on the CP140 Primary Air Vehicle (PAV) and related systems is desirable. However, similar experience on another aircraft fleet will be considered.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in DND aircraft engineering administration or project management is preferred.
  • A demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of military or civilian aircraft maintenance, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the mechanical and electrical theory associated with the operational maintenance requirements for, air conditioning, pressurization, auxiliary power units, and surface ice control systems is essential.
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) or DND experience as an Aircraft Release Authority (ARA) would be an advantage.
  • Training in Logistics Support, Reliability Centered Maintenance and/or management of physical assets is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Good technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret aircraft technical orders and drawings.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office tools is required.
  • A working knowledge of the CF Supply System, SAP, DRIMIS, or JDE, is desirable.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies.
  • Will participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 6S activities applicable to this position.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
