The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to join Coleman Mine in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent position.

The Senior Maintenance Engineer at Coleman Mine will work closely with the Reliability, Maintenance Planning and Execution teams which include Supervisors and Superintendents. The Senior Maintenance Engineer forms part of the reporting structure to the offsite Maintenance Manager and on-site Integrated Planning Superintendent.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Provide on-site, maintenance engineering technical support when failure symptoms have been detected, to develop the actions required to prevent a failure and have assets returned to running condition if failure occurs. As well as conduct/coordinate engineering field assessments and/or integrity assessment to make sure the assets are running without defects.
  • Support operations and execution teams to conduct Continuous Improvement Projects related to operating or maintaining assets. Makes recommendations for improving the repair cycle on assets. This includes applying existing engineered solutions or Vale engineering standards and conduct initial Engineering screening and scoping for engineering requests at the site.
  • Lead technical engineering support for site on significant equipment failures to assist execution teams to return equipment to operation as soon as possible and without risk
  • Support execution and planning teams to establish good cost-effective maintenance practices with well-defined repair techniques, principles, and procedures to enable timely repairs to assets and support the Reliability team with technical expertise as required.
  • Support execution teams to improve productivity and repair cycle times through continuous improvement projects, research of change in technology and recommend changes to work design (i.e. task lists, Bill of Materials, etc.) based on outcomes of continuous improvement projects
  • Support the maintenance management teams to ensure the work packages are executed as per design and Co-ordinate technical input and writing of scopes of repair on behalf of the maintenance execution team as required.

About You

Education:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (Mechanical)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in Maintenance/Plant Engineering related roles.
  • Although previous experience in mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that's what makes us great!

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Software skills in MS Office products and CMMS systems (SAP)
