Job Description:

Department Overview

The Global Compliance Department is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance across TD Bank Group (TDBG) in accordance with the Global Compliance Operating Framework. The team is accountable for promoting regulatory compliance by developing and maintaining compliance programs, including identifying and disseminating regulatory developments to businesses they support, maintaining Compliance policies, managing complaints and regulatory filings, providing relevant training, carrying out independent monitoring and oversight activities, reporting on the state of compliance to the Board, Ultimate Designate Person (UDP) and senior management, as needed, and providing advice and support, as required.

Team Overview

The Business Management & Governance team within Global Compliance provides business and financial insights, strategic planning, business management coordination, and facilitates One TD relationships across Global Compliance and Risk Management. The team plays a critical role in the Global Compliance strategy development and implementing pan-Compliance initiatives through data insights and executive reporting.

The Role & Key Accountabilities

Reporting to the AVP, Business Management & Governance, this role is pivotal in maintaining and providing specialized Business Continuity Management (BCM) guidance and support for Global Compliance teams along with processes and/or initiatives to meet business management, strategy, and governance objectives. The successful candidate will be the subject matter expert of the Global Compliance BCM Plan and provide reporting, analysis, and assessments at the functional or enterprise level.

  • Owns BCM / operational resiliency and development of Compliance crisis management playbook.
  • Owns the development and maintenance of the Global Compliance Business Continuity Plan (i.e., organizational changes, process owners' changes, on-off boarding updates) and provides support to Planner(s) and Risk BMG BCM Support Team during the planning process.
  • Ensure details documented in plan are a true representation of the business processes listed in the BCM Plan.
  • Review and approve Business Continuity Plan(s) and Exercise(s) and Test(s).
  • Responsible for the activation and execution of their respective BCM Plan via x Matters
  • Ensure call-tree is frequently updated as it is a LIVE document. Ensure critical employees are identified in the BCM plan.
  • Work closely with Business Process Owners/Delegates, Plan Manager(s) and Plan Executive(s), as appropriate, to get the most accurate BIAs (including approvals), dependencies, and recovery strategies captured in the Business Continuity Plan.
  • Responsible to provide all required plan information to the Risk BMG BCM Support Team to ensure they can appropriately develop and maintain the BCM Plan, BIAs, Exercise Record(s) and Contact List(s) (if Call List Maintainer is not assigned),
  • Own and initiate Business Continuity Plan and Exercise and Test review / approval process.
  • On an exception-basis only, initiate Business Continuity Plan and Exercise and Test Extension requests


SHAREHOLDER

  • Develop and deliver presentations / communications to management or broader audience.
  • Adhere to internal policies / procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines, contribute to the review of internal processes and activities and assist in identifying potential opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Identify variances and contribute to the analysis, due diligence and implementation of initiatives and/or business operations within defined area of responsibility.
  • Support development and/or/ implementation of standards, policies, procedures, and solutions that mitigate risk and maximize availability of service, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Keep current on emerging trends / developments and grow knowledge of the business, analytical tools and techniques.
  • Prioritize and manage own workload to deliver quality results and meet assigned timelines.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and compliance units.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Post-secondary undergraduate degree in a business or finance related program required
  • Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Incident Management preferred
  • 7+ years relevant experience in Financial Services would be considered an asset
