Job Summary
This position reports to the Provincial Director of Professional Practice - Allied Health. The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant for psychology supports practice integrity of Clinical Psychologists, Coordinator of Clinical Training for Psychology, Psychometrists, Clinical Sexologist, Music Therapists and Art Therapists in NLHS. This position is a support to NLHS managers that have Psychology, Sexology, and Creative Arts Therapy staff in clinical programs and divisions throughout the province. This position is responsible for the development, maintenance and evaluation of structures that support professional practice through a Professional Practice Model as well as the psychology operational plans in line with the NLHS strategic directions. The incumbent develops and fosters collaborative relationships with programs/departments to ensure client-centered care and best practices. They work closely with psychologists, creative arts therapists, sexologists, and managers in areas such as workforce planning, orientation, accountability, workload, clinical documentation, research, resource allocation, outcome measures, advanced practice, and scopes of practice. They work with managers and clinical psychology leaders to identify any policies and continuing professional development and research opportunities to support professional practice. Their leadership and expertise are shared with councils, committees, interprofessional projects and working groups. The PPC - Psychology also liaises with outside agencies such as educational institutions, professional colleges/associations, unions, and the Department of Health and Community Services.
Job Qualifications
Education
The successful applicant must be a Registered Psychologist with the NL Psychology Board.
A Doctoral degree in Psychology is required.
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical and professional leadership experience in psychology.
Previous management experience is an asset.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Strong knowledge of Psychology professional practice issues and standards.
Demonstrated progressive clinical, management and leadership experience, with a focus on quality patient/resident/client care.
Demonstrated experience in building and enhancing effective partnerships.
Excellent oral and written communication and change management skills.
