Position Purpose:
The Global Search Analyst is responsible for analyzing data related to On-Site Search with the goal of improving the findability experience for customers and stakeholders. Reporting to Search Product team, the role is responsible for analyzing large data sets and producing insights and knowledge to support key business objectives, decision making, problem solving, statistical analysis as needed, opportunity identification and prioritization.
The individual will be supporting Product, Merchandising and other teams to provide insights supporting key business objectives. Core functions include deep dive analysis on big data sets, solving findability challenges, proactively identifying opportunities, answering questions from stakeholders, and assessing the criticality and impact of issues. The individual will also work with other teams to implement solutions and will assess and report on impacts.

Position Responsibilities:
- Explore and Analyze customer findability data with the goal of understanding Search performance and customer interactions with Search
- Proactively identify opportunities, challenges, and monitor shifting customer behaviour data patterns
- Translate large data sets into meaningful actionable business information using SQL and similar which can be used for decision making
- Be an internal global on-site search optimization resource for Product, Merchandising and related teams
- Support non-Search stakeholders to solve business challenges within the scope of findability
- Support Product team with analysis on Search data to support decision making for projects and new features
- Assess solutions to identified findability problems in partnership with the wider Search team
- Assist business teams to assess the criticality and impact of identified findability challenges and opportunities
- Assess the potential impact and risks of creating new tuning rules, such as synonyms, redirects and similar
- Deep dive into large data sets such as product data, facet data and related business data to assess current effectiveness and opportunities
- Proactively explore and analyze customer behaviour, Voice of Customer and LTUA data and identify actionable items
- Work with other teams to implement solutions outside of Product workflow, for example product or data optimization that can improve findability
- Create and share reports on Search performance and call out key insights and unexpected data points
- Work with other teams such as Analytics and Data Science to build new reports and analysis tools as needed
- Document learnings and new analysis processes as they are created
- Assist with testing new solutions as needed
- Manage operational tasks with the goal of automating where possible
- Work well with the wider team
Experience/Knowledge Required:
- Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+). Knowledge and adherence to Home Depot policies and procedures.
- Must have ability to translate data into information and business knowledge
- Must have experience in working with analytics, preferably with large data sets
- Must have experience in SQL and have a general understanding of best practices in writing database queries
- Must have curiosity and enjoy exploring data
- Preferred candidate will have experience analyzing Search and customer behaviour patterns
- Preferred candidate will have experience in SQL joins, subqueries and comfort with learning and experimenting with new ways of processing large data sets
- Preferred candidate will have familiarity with Regular Expressions
- Preferred candidate will have familiarity or experience with either Search, Ecommerce, Home Improvement, or Retail
- The ideal candidate may have some knowledge or experience with statistics or math
