Accounting Manager

Employment Term: Permanent, Full-time

RNS is seeking an Accounting Manager who has an accounting background and strong interpersonal skills to join the Business Office team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the Accounting Manager is responsible for day-to-day accounting and employee payroll and benefits administration. Specific work will include payroll, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations. The Accounting Manager is the main point of contact with parents regarding their statements and collections on their accounts and for employees payroll and benefits administration.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage all student accounting and billing.
  • Oversee cash management on a day-to-day basis.
  • Accounts payable and receivable management.
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance and Operations to manage payroll and benefits administration processes.
  • Support monthly and year-end processes including T4s for company payroll and year-end pension adjustments, HST returns, T2202A Tuition Certificates and prepare child care tax-credit.
  • Participate and assist with external and internal audit.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive financial, student, parent and employee data.
  • Support other department duties as necessary and as requested.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma or University Degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in comparable roles.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and summarize numerical and financial data.
  • Accessible and responsive to students, families, and colleagues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact professionally.
  • Proficient in MS Office and payroll systems, with experience learning new systems
  • Experience in Sage or FE NEXT is an asset.
  • Organized and self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Requirement for flexibility, significant problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking.
  • Payroll compliance certification is an asset.
