Definition of Work:
Reporting to the Provincial Director of Planning and Policy, within the Quality and Learning Health Systems Department, the Planning Coordinator will support the provincial, zonal, and program planning requirements of the organization.
The Planning Coordinator will work closely with the Provincial Director of Planning and Policy, Senior Planners and other Department leaders and staff to support all organizational planning activity. To help foster a culture of quality and drive transformative change, the incumbent will collaborate with the Provincial Director and key partners in Performance and Evaluation to develop and monitor strategic road maps for various Departments throughout the organization and will support the development of projects, strategies, goals, outcomes, action planning, knowledge translation and progress monitoring.
Connecting planning activity to organizational strategic priorities, the incumbent will assist the Planning, Performance and Evaluation Team in developing and facilitating a comprehensive organizational approach to planning and performance monitoring such to ensure that the organization is achieving its objectives relative to the mandate of the board and is a true learning system.
Key Responsibilities
- Organizational Planning:
- In collaboration with the Planning, Performance and Evaluation Team, the incumbent applies a methodical approach to planning activity. The incumbent uses an effective process of communication and meaningful engagement to connect with teams and establish goals, objectives, and key performance indicators. The incumbent will assist with environmental/jurisdictional scanning as required to support identified priorities and will work with other team members to ensure appropriate evaluation and performance measures are in place.
- Data Analysis, Visualization, and Dissemination:
- The position works closely with team members to capture and analyze performance data and assists in developing communication strategies to disseminate data and key project information. The incumbent will play a vital role in supporting the ongoing development of a Learning Health and Social System and in driving and achieving meaningful change.
- Quality Improvement (QI), Knowledge Translation (KT), and Implementation:
- The position will work closely with team members and partners to help guide QI, KT, and implementation activities related to identified projects to ensure implementation activities relevant to priorities are executed effectively.
Other
- Assist with organizational planning needs by critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources.
- Provide planning support for priority organization initiatives.
- Assist other planning, performance, and evaluation team members to develop proposals, briefing documents and performance reports.
- Facilitates planning sessions and provides presentations as required.
- Provide education and consultation to NLHS leadership, staff and physicians to enhance their capacity to effectively plan, monitor, and communicate results of quality improvement initiatives.
- Play an active role on committees and working groups as relevant to the role.
Required Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate degree from a health discipline/health science or related field.
- Education and or training in the field of planning and performance would be considered an asset.
- Lean or other Quality Improvement training would be considered an asset.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the health system.
- Experience working collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
- Demonstrate evidence-based decision making, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information.
- Demonstrate planning experience including facilitation and coordination.
- Knowledge of communication and engagement strategies, project management, change management, evaluation methods, evaluation frameworks, quality improvement methodologies, and indicator development.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrative experience in the development of reports, presentations, and planning documents.
- Be forward thinking and innovation minded.
- Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of data sources, methodologies, and electronic systems.
- The ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suites, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven capability to function in a fast paced and changing environment and manage competing priorities.

The incumbent:
- Must have a satisfactory record of work performance and attendance.
- Will be expected to reside within the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Be expected to work outside of regular working hours as necessary and have the ability to travel to health sites as required.
- Possess a Class 05 driver's license.
- Present a satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
