• Act as a welcoming agent and greet customers and guests visiting CF Sherway in a helpful, friendly manner.
• Assist any and all persons with disabilities from the curb into the designated areas and with contacting security personnel for further assistance as needed, required, or directed.
• Monitor and verify vehicles entering, navigating, and exiting the CF Property grounds.
• Monitor and control pedestrian and vehicular movement, traffic and parking activities, prevent unattended vehicles, and assist with curbside issues while maintaining the smooth and free flow of traffic throughout the exterior of the CF property.
• Educate and assist guests on parking and waiting options to help limit roadside congestion, and unattended vehicles and ensure pedestrian safety;
• Patrol the parking lots, curbsides, walkways, taxi areas, valet, and designated lanes or the parking lot area.
• Control and monitoring of all vehicles and pedestrian traffic on the CF property;
• Monitor transportation companies, delivery drivers, and clients and guests conducting business on the CF property.
• Act as first response in case of emergency; and contact emergency personnel, Police, Fire, and Ambulance/ EMS as required or directed.
• Enforce all CF policies and procedures.
• Report all enforcement infractions and provide feedback to resolve problems or situations.
• During emergencies, assist in various roles such as traffic coordination, as required.
• Act as Evacuation Wardens during building evacuations.
• Liaise and communicate with parking enforcement, taxi inspectors and police, for enforcement purposes and take a proactive approach to resolve traffic related problems in accordance with property and city regulations and/or CF policy.
• Carry and operate portable radios to communicate with Security staff and CF property management.
• Provide pedestrian and vehicular traffic direction and control on the exterior area of the CF Sherway Gardens Shopping Mall Property, facilitating the movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Direct or control movement of vehicles at specific locations
• Must be comfortable working both independently and within a team environment.
• Direct commercial and public vehicles along their respective traffic lanes
• Ensure the safe, orderly and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the CF Property grounds and roadway surfaces
• Conduct regular patrols at various times each day of the exterior pedestrian and parking areas.
• Direct both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and provide the public with relevant information concerning vehicle parking, stopping, and the loading and unloading of vehicles in a courteous and consistent manner.
• Ensure the separation of vehicles and pedestrians by controlling crosswalks, lane separations, areas designated by the CF Property.
• Enforce the "Traffic Regulations", as per CF Policy and municipal by-laws.
• Anticipate and address areas of vehicular or pedestrian congestions and attempt to relieve the congestion and/or ensure vehicles or pedestrians move in a safe, secure, orderly and efficient manner
• Ensure entrances, exits, through traffic, and or work areas are clear of obstacles including unattended items in order to maintain a safe environment
• Act at all times with a high degree of professionalism and provide excellent customer service to all guests and patrons.
• De-Escalate any conflicts and emergencies in a safe manner as per SOP's and CF Policy.
• Maintain compliance with and enforce property standards, rules, and regulations in a reasonable manner
• Able to use tact and diplomacy in dealings across a range of settings and situations
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid, CPR, or AED support until medical professionals arrive
• Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures
• Must possess a solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures
• Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair, safe, and professional and ethical manner, by enforcing the Trespass to Property Act
• Assist with Fire & Life Safety inspections
• Maintain a detailed memo book and prepare incident reports on all matters dealt with using CF's standard report-writing program
• Conduct periodic patrols of property either by foot or by vehicle.
• Investigate incidents and occurrences
• Draft detailed incident and occurrence reports
• Maintain the peace, safety, and security of all patrons, and clients on the property
• Monitor CCTV surveillance systems *(as needed or required)
• De-escalate emergency/crisis situations
• Assist emergency and law enforcement personnel
• Access control, line management, customer service
• Assist with daily operations as needed/required or directed.
• Other duties as outlined by management

Qualifications:

• Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. (PPE is provided)
• Must be willing and able to stand, walk, and patrol by foot and vehicle for extended periods (8-12 hours)
• Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism
• Must have at least 1 year of prior security experience
• Experience in physical / mall security is considered an asset**
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a strong command and fluency in the English language both written and verbal
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment both indoors and outdoors as required.
• Must be able to handle stress and pressure and make a sound decision under duress
• Must be comfortable working in a busy highly populated area
• Must have a clean driver abstract
• Must demonstrate high attention to detail / observational awareness
