Permanent Part-time position working in The Village Cafe

The Café Care Partner is responsible for the daily operations of The Village Café at the Windsor Elms. This involves developing and preparing the daily Café Special as well as preparing items for the display case (eg salads, sandwiches, desserts) while ensuring all items are fresh, dated and with an appealing presentation. Sales are done via counter service (no table service) to the staff, family members and residents at the Elms. Responsibilities also include supporting the Central Kitchen by helping with some meal prep for resident meals, serving meals to residents, and adhering to resident diets/allergies/preferences. General cleaning, dishwashing and closing off the cash register are part of the role as well.
Strengths of the successful applicant must include being a team player with a positive attitude who adheres to food safety and infection control standards, follows safe cash handling procedures, and understands the critical nature of adhering to the residents' diets, textures while supporting their preferences.
Qualifications
- Foodservice experience an asset (basic food handling and preparation skills)
- Knowledge of debit machine and cash register is an asset
- Minimum grade 12 completion
- Organized and able to multi-task
- Proven customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills and positive attitude
- Excellent attendance; Reliable and dependable
- Understand and demonstrate strong teamwork abilities
- Demonstrated interest in improving knowledge by attending available educational opportunities
- Working knowledge of various diets and textures an asset
- Food Handler's Course required (current or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire)
- Physical ability to lift 35lbs, push a mobile hot food cart and ability to stand and walk for 7hrs
