Position Scope
The Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Designate at Mountains and Meadows Care Group reports to the Director of Resident Care at Mountain Lea Lodge. Responsible for leading the IPAC program to ensure safe, effective delivery of care to mitigate infections within the facility to reduce morbidity and mortality and to prevent the spread of infections among residents, families and employees.
Organizational Relationships:
Maintains a positive relationship with the management team at Mountain Lea Lodge. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement and monitor the IPAC program to provide ongoing support to residents, families and employees at the facility.
Key Activities:
· Responsible for overseeing and managing the IPAC program at Mountains and Meadows Care Group.
· Collaborate with key stakeholders from the organization and Nova Scotia Health to develop, implement and monitor the IPAC Program.
· Responsible for overseeing and delivering education to residents, families, employees, visitors and volunteers on best IPAC practices.
· Chairs quarterly IPAC meetings with the interdisciplinary health care team.
· Completes regular Infection control surveillance and ensures appropriate action is taken to findings.
· Supports and develops policies and procedures based on best IPAC practices.
· Ensures a comprehensive outbreak management plan.
· Oversees vaccination programs.
· Auditing IPAC practices in the facility.
Qualifications:
Currently registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia.
Recognized IPAC Certificate or Diploma.
Minimum of three years of progressive nursing experience and education in which leadership, administrative and interpersonal skills have been demonstrated.
Past Long Term Care experience is an asset for MLL
Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Must have excellent conflict management skills
May require flexibility with work hours at times
Current certification in CPR and Standard First Aid
Policy development required
