We are currently hiring two Senior Manager, Commercial Credit roles. One will be located in Vancouver, BC and the other will be located in Calgary, AB.
As the Senior Manager, Commercial Credit, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of a designated portfolio of loans at an acceptable level of risk, by exercising sound credit judgment in approving and recommending applications, monitoring credit quality, conditions, and collection activity, thereby ensuring loan losses are minimized. You will adjudicate Commercial Banking Credits within the framework of the Commercial Credit Administration Handbook, Bank Policy, and Credit Policy.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Ensure sound and timely credit decisions conforming to Bank policies and procedures by exercising credit judgment in approving, recommending and declining credit applications within discretionary limits.
- Maintain an awareness of Bank's loan policies, credit procedures and industry appetite. Stay current on economic and business trends, with an understanding of how external factors may impact the loan portfolio.
- Oversee an assigned portfolio, monitor unsatisfactory trends in risk ratings, credit conditions, overdue reporting and annual reviews. Initiate corrective action.
- Contribute to the development of the Bank's Commercial human resources by identifying training needs and providing coaching accordingly, specifically as it relates to credit underwriting, due diligence, documentation and portfolio management.
- Restructure credit requests, as necessary and in collaboration with Banking teams, to ensure new and increased loan opportunities align with Bank policy and risk appetite.
- Liaise with business partners in Commercial, Professional, Special Accounts Management, and Private Banking (as required) in the preparation and delivery of solutions that will meet both the needs of the client and the Bank.
- Participate in projects to create efficiency, improve adjudication processes, clarify procedures or other projects as identified by you or the team.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Post-Secondary Education completed in business or related area
- Understanding of Bank lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration, collection, related legislation and accounting practices
- Proven credit judgment
- Strong negotiation and problem resolution skills
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in order to produce informative, concise and professional credit replies, presentations and correspondence
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently
- Strong coaching and counseling skills in credit
