The South Shore Family Resource Association -is currently accepting applications for a
Parenting Journey Home Visitor -Queens County
The Parenting Journey Home Visitor will provide programs and services to families with children aged 0 to 18 (up to 19th birthday) through home visiting based supports. The Parenting Journey program is a voluntary program and is intended to provide support to families experiencing needs and challenges that may impact overall family functioning.
The Home Visitor will be responsible for:
Offering home visiting to families identified through family centered, strengths-based approaches,
Screening, family assessment, goal setting, referrals to other community services, documentation, and case conferencing.
The candidate will also be required to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications:
An undergraduate degree/diploma in Social Sciences or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge and skills in child and youth development
Knowledge and understanding of positive parenting and parent/child relationships
Knowledge of the principles of adult education
Experience in working with families
Experience in working with children and youth
Experience in working in a community-based setting
Strong knowledge and understanding of community development principles and experience in applying them.
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Experience with trauma informed practices and approaches
Ability to build relationships while maintaining healthy boundaries
Ability to work independently and within a team
Knowledge of the services and supports for families in Queens County
Basic computer skills
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Hours, Renumeration and Start Date:
37.5 hours per week. $24/hour. Start date to be determined.
