Job Summary
The Recreation Therapy Worker II is responsible for providing Therapeutic Recreation Services for patients/clients/residents. The Recreation Therapy Worker will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and will complete/assist with leisure inventories; complete documentation of patient/client/resident participation and progress; participate in program planning; organize, implement, and evaluate recreation participation opportunities based on the needs, skills, abilities, and interests of patient/client/resident; assist and promote activities of daily living; and other duties as assigned. This position maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant Therapeutic Recreation for professional integrity and practice issues.

Constantly moves objects; occasionally lifts or transports equipment and supplies up to 25 lbs. and pushes or pulls equipment using light to medium forces for patient handling and portering to move clients over 50 lbs.
Regularly stands, walks, and works in awkward, cramped positions. Regularly sits to work on the computer and occasionally drives clients to and from activities.
Visual concentration is constantly required to ensure clients safety and supervise programming.
Has time pressures and may not have control over the pace of work.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized college with a two-year diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation with major course work in Therapeutic Recreation is required.
Experience working as a Recreation Therapy Worker in a health care setting is an asset.
Knowledge in the planning, organization and implementation of recreation, leisure, and social programs.
Ability to be self-motivated.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision or within a team.
Demonstrated ability to have a positive, respectful, and sensitive approach to the needs of the patients/clients/residents.
A class IV driver's license to operate a passenger van/bus equal to or less then twenty-four passengers is required.
A satisfactory driver's abstract is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
