Demands, duties, qualifications The Project Manager - Laboratory position will be required for the implementation of the new Health Information System (Epic Project). The Project Manager - Laboratory will be assigned to the Beaker specific applications team. A Project Manager - Laboratory will be expected to be cross trained.
The Project Manager - Laboratory works under the direction of the Epic Project Management Lead/ Delivery Manager (Epic Project PMO) and will work under the supervision of the Epic Project PMO Director.
Training on the Epic Application is a requirement and therefore travel to Wisconsin (United States) may be an expectation.
You will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Assist the core implementation team with project management
• Adhere to the implementation workplan
• Responsible for detailed planning
• Coordinate activities and follow-up
• Report status updates
• Manage and update project scope
• Manage project issues
• Manage, identify and monitor project risks
• Maintain the workplan of the designated implementation team
• Follow and complete project management processes for reporting, milestones review, resource planning, and active issue and risk management.
• Monitor consistent and efficient project execution
• Track progress and develop draft project status reports
• Document change requests
• Identify key operational impacts to project.
• Prepare remediation strategies for the PMO Director
• Analyze workflows and documentation, including use case development
• Elicit and translating business and technical requirements into appropriate technical specifications
• Work with end-users to define, execute and track test scenarios and ensure appropriate end user training
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients across all levels of the organization
• Communicating and document business and IT information in line with agreed processes and procedures
• Facilitate and lead group meetings such as workshops while documenting outcomes
• Provide input and advice on IT solution strategies, plans and deployments
• Ensue adherence to governance and Digital Health Division standards (e.g., privacy and security)
• Provide oversight, advice, and guidance to high paced teams
About You
Your education and experience include:
• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of three years direct experience as a business analyst; Laboratory Technologist; or in an IT project environment
• Ability to action project management methodology and tools
• HIS experience or large system implementation experience
• Knowledge of Lab instruments and points of integration/integration software (DI)
• Direct knowledge in Clinical Laboratory workflows (both inside and outside the Laboratory environment), regulatory requirements, and patient experience is an asset.
• Familiar with Laboratory middleware's and points of integration/integration software is an asset.
• Extensive knowledge of current trends and practices related to eHealth clinical information systems.
